animal farm
chapter 1
Predictions: I think that Old Major will live longer than the pigs think.
- I also think that the animals will fail trying to over throw the humans.
- I think Boxer will just quit working.
- I also think that the animals will fail trying to over throw the humans.
- I think Boxer will just quit working.
This is Old Major, he is said to be the wisest pig and tells the other pigs that they need to over throw the people and have the farm run by the animals.
This is Mr. Jones, he is in charge of the Manor Farm.
This is Boxer he is the horse on the farm. His motto throughout the whole book is, I'll work harder. This is Boxers answer for everything.
Clarifications: On page 26 it says, In spite the fact that his tushes had never been cut. I believe this to mean that the pig was never butchered and did not have his hind quarters taken out.
- On page 27 it says, that the donkey is devoted to Boxer, I think this means that even though he doesn't talk much he still has friends and one of them is Boxer.
- On page 27 it talks about Majors dream and how he will get to that later, well I think he is talking about the revolution that is going to take place.
Questions:
- Even though Old Major is the oldest does that really mean he knows everything?
- Why is Boxers answer for everything "i'll work harder?"
- Why is the donkey so grumpy?
Connections: Old Major reminds me of my great grandpa because he was wise and knew a lot like Old Major did.
- Boxer reminds me of a friend I have because no matter what he just works harder and harder.
- Moses reminds me of my great aunt because she is shy too.
Summary: I think we have learned a lot in the first chapter already. We have learned that Old Major is about to die but he is giving the farm animals advice on what to do when he is gone. And we have learned that Boxers saying is "i'll work harder".

chapter 2
Predictions: Since Old Major is dead now I think a lot is going to change on the farm.
- I think that the rebellion will take place sooner than the animals think.
- I think that the other animals are going to find out about the secret meetings the pigs are having.
- I think that the rebellion will take place sooner than the animals think.

This represents the secret meetings that the pigs were having in the barn.
This is Moses, he is the raven at the top. He is Mr. Jones especial pet. He is a spy for him and a clever talker.
This is Squealer he is very good at manipulating things into making it sound like something it is not.
Clarifications: On page 37 it says, "comrade,"said snowball, those ribbons that you are so devoted to are the badge of slavery. Can you not understand that liberty is worth more than ribbons?" I think that Snowball is trying to get the animal to follow him and forget about those ribbons.
- On page 38 it says, but of late he has fallen on evil days. I think this is talking about Mr. Jones and how he is not such a good person anymore.
- On page 38 it says, the men had milked the cows in the early morning and then had gone out rabbiting. I think this means after the milked the cows the went out rabbit hunting.
Questions: What kind of lawsuit did Mr. Jones have?
- Why did Moses lie so much and not do any work?
- How did the men forget to feed the animals?
Connections: When the men had to milk the cows early in the morning that reminds me of a friend I have who used to work on a dairy farm.
- Mr. Jones getting drunk at the Red Lion reminds me of my family getting drunk around a campfire.
- The animals rebelling against the humans reminds me how the U.S rebelled against Great Britain.
Summary: In chapter two we have now saw that the rebellion was successful. We have also met Moses and found out that he is Mr. Jones's pet, and he likes to tell tall tales. Finally we have learned that the seven commandments were established.

- I think that they will start to work on Sundays.
This is the flag that the animals hoisted every Sunday.
The animals learned to read and write.
This shows how Snowball organized the animals into specific groups.
Clarifications: On page 50 it says that Benjamin could read as well as any pig, but never exercised his faculty. I think this means he never showed that he could actually read.
- On page 51 it says, "A birds wing, comrades, "he said, " is an organ of propulsion and not of manipulation. I think this means that the bird helps move things forward and not backwards.
- On page 51 it says It should therefore be regarded as a leg. I think this means that legs help the animals do work.
Questions: Why don't the pis have to do any work?
- Why does Mollie only want to learn the letters that spell her name?
- Why do the pigs organize the farm animals into groups?
